About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional current MBA in SF/Bay Area who aims to gain experience at a top early-stage venture capital firm. The MBA Fellow role is designed as a 6-8 month role during the academic year that provides the fellow with exposure to multiple aspects of the venture capital process.

The role has both in-person and remote responsibilities. There is a focus on helping the firm to expand its networks in SF and the Bay Area, across talented early-stage founders, investors, and technology operators.

The MBA Fellow will work collaboratively with the Investment & Research team, with a focus on the following responsibilities:

  • Targeted networking: Leverage your knowledge of the SF tech and startup ecosystem to help bring 645 further to the forefront of the SF VC community. Help to execute an actionable engagement strategy enable the firm to get in front of the right people.
  • Exposure & Events: Gain exposure to the broader SF VC community by helping to organize and execute special events hosted by 645 Ventures that the Fellow will attend.
  • Network management: Help to manage the networks of the 645 Investment and Research team and develop targeted engagement strategies.
  • Deal Sourcing: Perform targeted outreach within the SF early-stage startup ecosystems including top campus communities including incubators/accelerators, entrepreneurship groups, research labs, etc.
  • Due diligence: For companies that you surface, work with members of the Investment & Research team to gather information, perform and participate in due diligence on companies.
  • Investment committee: Prepare materials for, and sit in on, investment committee meetings.
  • Research and Project Work: Complete projects to support 645’s thesis driven investment strategy and build the 645 network within the SF-tech ecosystem.

Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Strong organizational skills and project management abilities.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically. Self-directed and able to create structure around unstructured problems and think outside of the box.
  • Experience in investment banking, consulting, venture capital, and/or private equity.
  • Strong ability in excel/google sheets and powerpoint/google slides.
  • Fluent in English with strong communication and written documentation skills.
  • Ability to collect broad sets of data and synthesize into comparable insights.
  • Willingness to work on all kinds of tasks; no task is too small.

Additional Information

  • Contract position (6 Months, or longer based on interest)
  • The Fellow can receive school credit for this role or can be a paid opportunity.
  • Hours can be flexible based on the Fellow’s schedule, but would like to request up to 29 hours per week.
  • This role will work from our South Park, San Francisco location.
