645 Ventures is seeking a sharp, technically-minded MIT student to join us as an Investment Fellow for Summer 2026. We’re open to undergraduate juniors and seniors as well as MBA students at any stage of their program. This role offers hands-on experience at a leading early-stage venture capital firm, with a dedicated focus on the AI developer tools and infrastructure landscape.
The Fellow will play a key role in sourcing early-stage companies and founders building the next generation of AI infrastructure, helping bring high-potential opportunities to the attention of the 645 Ventures Investment Team. A core focus is building relationships across the student, research, and founder communities — especially among engineers, AI researchers, and technical operators.

Key Responsibilities:

Targeted Networking: Leverage your technical network and knowledge of the AI/developer tools and agentic software ecosystem to enhance 645 Ventures’ presence in the community. Develop and execute engagement strategies connecting the firm with top engineering talent, AI researchers, and founders.

Deal Sourcing: Conduct targeted outreach within the early-stage startup community building AI infrastructure, dev tools, and agentic platforms. Help deepen coverage across incubators, accelerators, research labs, and open-source communities.

Due Diligence: Collaborate with the Investment & Research team on technical and market diligence for startups you identify — including evaluating product architecture, competitive differentiation, and go-to-market strategy.

Investment Committee Participation: Prepare briefing materials and participate in investment committee meetings for companies you source and advance through our evaluation process.
Qualifications:

Academic Excellence: Currently enrolled as an undergraduate junior or senior, or an MBA student (any year)

Technical Background: Strong background in software engineering, computer science, or a related technical field — required for this role

Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with AI/ML engineering and the modern AI stack: model training and inference, LLMOps, vector databases, AI frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, LangChain, vLLM), or developer tooling

Intellectual Curiosity: Genuine intellectual curiosity about the AI infrastructure and developer tools ecosystem and who the breakout companies will be

Communication & Synthesis: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate technical concepts into clear investment narratives

Strategic thinker: Who can bring structure to ambiguous, fast-moving markets

Collaboration: Team-oriented and willing to take on tasks big and small

Network Builder: Track record of building relationships with faculty, founders, or technical peers, and ability to serve as a trusted connector between 645 Ventures and the MIT community.

Prior experience: Prior start up experience founding, early employee, or research commercialization is strongly preferred.Prior experience in consulting or investment banking is a plus
