About the role
Forterra is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Legal Operations Associate / Paralegal (non-lawyer position) to join our dynamic and fast-paced legal team. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in legal support, contract negotiation, corporate administrative matters, and legal operations. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in an energetic and rapidly evolving environment.
What you'll do
- Negotiation and Contract Management:
- Negotiate and manage non-disclosure agreements, teaming agreements, supply contracts, and other critical legal documents

- Cap Table Management and Other Corporate Administrative Items:
- Oversee corporate administrative tasks, including maintaining the company’s cap table, as well as documenting and maintaining records related to Board meetings

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance legal operations and implement process improvements

- Documentation and Compliance:
- Prepare, review, and organize legal documents to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all corporate and legal materials

- Team Collaboration:
- Triage and provide frontline support for requests from the Company to the Legal Department
- Work closely with attorneys, executives, and other stakeholders to provide comprehensive legal support and guidance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a legal-related field
- Paralegal certificate
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a paralegal-type role
- Demonstrated experience in negotiating agreements and managing contracts
- Proven expertise in corporate administrative matters
- Demonstrable experience in legal operations, vendor management, and successful implementation of operational improvements
- Experience with cap table management (preferably in CARTA)
- Strong project management skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities effectively
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced and energetic environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently
- Adaptability and eagerness to learn in a constantly changing legal and Company landscape
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- A combination of both law firm and in-house experience, preferably in defense
- Interest in defense or national security
US Salary Range
$80,000 - $130,000
Location
On-Site in Arlington, VA
The salary range for this role is an estimate and is based on a wide variety of compensation factors. The salary offered to candidates will vary based on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) relevant work experience, education, specialized training, critical expertise, training, and more. Equity in Forterra is included in most of our full-time, high-demand roles and is therefore considered part of Forterra’s overall compensation package. In addition to base salary and equity, Forterra offers competitive benefits for full-time employees including:
