Position Overview
We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team on a part-time basis. This is a remote position supporting our clinicians with patient safety workflows, medication coordination, and clinical documentation. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and experienced in behavioral health settings.
You will play a critical role in ensuring patient safety, supporting medication workflows, and helping our providers focus on delivering excellent care.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Safety & Clinical Support:
- Monitor patient charts and forms for safety concerns or incomplete documentation
- Flag urgent or high-risk information (e.g. side effects, suicidality, allergies) for clinician review
- Help implement and maintain workflows for safety screening and clinical follow-up
- Track completion of required assessments (PHQ-9, GAD-7, etc.)
Medication Coordination:
- Assist with prescription verifications, refill requests, and pharmacy coordination
- Ensure accurate medication records in the EMR
- Follow up on lab work or documentation needed for controlled substance prescribing
- Communicate with patients and pharmacies to resolve prescription-related issues
Administrative & Communication Support:
- Conduct patient outreach (e.g., appointment prep, form completion, follow-ups)
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Support coordination between therapists, prescribers, and care team members
- Protect patient privacy and ensure HIPAA compliance at all times
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential from an accredited program
- 2+ years of experience in a behavioral health or medical setting
- Familiarity with psychiatric medications, safety protocols, and EHR documentation
- Excellent communication skills and sound clinical judgment
- Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Comfortable with remote work, digital tools, and multitasking in a fast-paced environment
- Availability during East Coast business hours is required
Compensation
$20 to $30 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications
