About the Role:

We're seeking a dynamic Director, Product Design to join our team and spearhead our journey through rapid growth. Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, the Director will play a pivotal role in leading a team of product designers.

What you'll be doing:

  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of 2-3 product designers, providing guidance, feedback, and support to foster their growth and development.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management, engineering, and marketing to define product design strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • User-Centric Design: Advocate for user-centered design principles throughout the product development lifecycle, from ideation to execution, ensuring that user needs and preferences are prioritized.
  • Mobile Design Expertise: Lead the design of mobile applications, ensuring intuitive and seamless user experiences across iOS and Android platforms.
  • Connected Devices: Drive the design of connected devices, leveraging IoT technology to create innovative and interconnected products that enhance the parenting experience.
  • Visual Design: Oversee the creation of visually compelling and on-brand designs, including interface layouts, iconography, and typography.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Utilize prototyping tools to create interactive prototypes for user testing and iteration, gathering feedback to inform design decisions.
  • Design System Development: Establish and maintain a comprehensive design system to ensure consistency and scalability across all Nanit products and platforms.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Foster a collaborative and inclusive design culture, facilitating cross-functional collaboration and effectively communicating design concepts and rationale.
  • Stay Updated: Stay informed about the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in product design, continuously seeking opportunities to innovate and improve.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in product design, with a strong portfolio showcasing mobile design and connected devices.
  • Proven experience leading and managing a team of designers, with a track record of delivering high-quality designs on schedule.
  • Expertise in mobile design principles and best practices, with proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, or Adobe XD.
  • Experience with IoT technology and designing for connected devices is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate design concepts and rationale to cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment is a plus.
  • Passion for improving the lives of parents and babies through innovative design solutions.

This is a hybrid role that will require prospective candidates to be in our NYC headquarters 2-3 days per week

Salary Range: $190,000 to $215,000 base salary + plus equity and benefits. The base pay is one component of Nanit's total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, and basic life insurance. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
