The Director of Student Athlete Success will lead a team of student athlete success coaches on daily core curriculum programming for OTE. In this role, you will develop and implement scholarship programs that enhance student athlete success in partnership with basketball administration and player services. You will lead one of Overtime Elite’s (OTE) core goals of providing individualized support to students and helping them to achieve their learning objectives within the scope of OTE and college readiness, its curriculum partner(s) and NCAA rules and regulations.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and manage a team of Student-Athlete Success Coaches, overseeing scheduling, mentorship, and day-to-day support
- Travel with assigned teams as needed to provide on-the-road student success coaching.
- Collaborate closely with OTE’s curriculum partner to liaise on core educational functions, address course-related issues, monitor eligibility, and ideate on expanded partnership opportunities.
- Communicate with athletic administration and coaching staff on student athlete time management and course completion
- Implement study strategies and learning skills workshops for at-risk athletes; guiding success coaches on tactics to help based on individual motivations
- Design and execute a comprehensive success program focused on current performance and college readiness, incorporating innovative approaches to foster social engagement, public speaking skills, and a lifelong love of learning.
- Collaborate with Player Services to develop and oversee off-court development opportunities, including elective courses, community service, enrichment activities, and brand-building initiatives.
- Act as summer school coordinator and point of contract for all enrolled athletes
- Manage transitional programming for post-grad students and college-bound athletes
- Monitor and report high level student progress and concerns to internal (leadership, compliance, coaches, etc.) and external (parent, guardians, etc.) stakeholders Communicate and practice early intervention and action plans for academic performance concerns with curriculum partner, families, coaching staff and any other key stakeholders
- Monitor and track graduation and NCAA eligibility requirements in collaboration with OTE compliance and eligibility staff
- Design, conduct or coordinate development opportunities with the curriculum provider, compliance and any other administrative trainings
- Create a positive and supportive environment that simultaneously executes a next-generation student experience on OTE while also preparing student athletes for college and higher education experiences
Who you are:
- Experience in managing a team of people
- Experience working with amateur or young professional athletes
- Experience in coaching or familiarity with basketball coaching model
- Familiarity in college athletics by having worked in athletic administration or by being a previous student athlete yourself
- Familiarity with online learning platforms
- Demonstrated experience working with students and athletes in an educational environment
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Strong positive attitude towards teamwork and student success
- Excitement about the future of secondary education, online learning platforms, and building with our next generation of leaders on and off the court
