In order to grow, consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands spend 20% of their topline revenue to get into retailers and promote their products within those retailers. The problem is that today 70% of those promotions are not ROI positive. This is because ROI is hard to track. The industry operates on emails, pdfs, and xls spreadsheets. At Vividly, we’re solving this massive problem with exciting tactics including AI, Machine Learning, and Fintech and adding value to everyone in the chain. The CPG space runs on relationships, data, and the ability to translate complexity into clarity — and that's exactly what this role demands. As Vividly's Principal Sales Engineering, you'll be both a hands-on contributor in active deals and the steady force elevating the SE function through mentorship, process iteration, and cross-functional partnership. This is a role for someone who leads by doing: someone who can run a compelling demo in the morning, partner and coach peers and sharpen the team's playbook. Key Responsibilities and Impact
- Own high-complexity deals end-to-end — from technical discovery through close — ensuring each opportunity is well-scoped, clearly positioned, and moving with momentum.
- Mentor and elevate peers by sharing best practices, co-reviewing demos, and providing real-time feedback that sharpens the team's collective approach to pre-sales.
- Deliver tailored, high-impact product demonstrations that connect Vividly's capabilities directly to the trade promotion and deductions challenges CPG brands face every day.
- Iterate on existing SE processes and frameworks — identifying what's working, surfacing gaps, and proposing improvements that make the whole team more effective and consistent.
- Partner with AEs, CSMs, and Product to stay aligned on customer needs, feed field signal back into the roadmap, and ensure seamless handoffs across the customer journey.
- Serve as the go-to technical resource on ERP integrations, data workflows, and system compatibility — building confidence with prospects and credibility within the team.
You Will Be Successful With
- Deep experience in a customer-facing sales engineering or technical pre-sales role — you've navigated complex deals and know what it takes to move them forward.
- The ability to mentor and influence peers without formal authority — you lead through expertise, generosity, and a genuine investment in the team's growth.
- Hands-on familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite, Sage, SAP, or similar) and the ability to speak credibly about integrations and data handling across technical and business audiences.
- Familiarity with the CPG industry, trade promotion management, or financial/accounting software — or a proven ability to get deeply fluent in a complex domain fast.
- A sharp storytelling instinct — you can make a nuanced, technical product feel immediately relevant and compelling to the right buyer.
- Comfort operating at a senior level in a fast-moving startup — you contribute structure and expertise without needing it handed to you first.
